These cookies (someone else posted the recipe, so I won't duplicate it) were a new recipe for me this year, and they got raves from everybody that tried them! They're buttery, soft and just minty enough without knocking you over. I opted not to crush the peppermint on top, just to see how it went, and they were fine without it. 2 comments - Leave a comment

bakebakebake [ frickkcirf ] | Dec. 25th, 2009 11:35 pm Pumpkin Cheesecake
I used the recipe from this URL: http://gimmesomeoven.com/pumpkin-cheesecake-with-gingerbread-crust/
This was my first attempt at a cheesecake. I thought it turned out pretty well. It was a complete hit with the family, all the other deserts were hardly touched. I was pretty proud of myself! 2 comments - Leave a comment

bakebakebake [ sleevesofsatin ] | Dec. 26th, 2009 12:07 am pear cake tatin
I'm a huge fan of apple cake tatin, but since it was Christmas I wanted to make it more seasonal and use pears, so here she is! The cake is pretty simple but very yummy and light, so you don't feel too weighed down after a huge Christmas feast!
Tons more pictures and info at my blog jonesing for...

bakebakebake [ marlenedaily ] | Dec. 25th, 2009 11:08 pm easy spiced crust Hello! I've posted comments, but haven't posted anything to introduce myself until now. I did make some improvised pumpkin bread pudding for thanksgiving, but it didn't look good (tasted fine though, as most bread puddings do). But today being Christmas with the bigger holiday meal at dinner, I had the oven and lunch.
This is an easy fix for when you want a holiday goody without pulling out the mixer: ( cut for two images ) I am a lazy cook. Hello *wavie* But a good oven should be used. 4 comments - Leave a comment

bakebakebake [ oogie_smash ] | Dec. 25th, 2009 01:47 pm Chocolate-Mint Creams As a last minute time-killer and something to add for desert for today's Christmas get-together with family I whipped up this recipe the night before. I got this recipe from an old copy of the 2007 "100 Best Cookies" issue of Better Homes and Gardens.
I thought this recipe was simple (and delicious!)and didn't call for too many fancy ingredients. I just had to buy the chocolate.

Ok, so it looks more like a Valentine's treat with the leftover heart sprinkles I decided to throw on there. But still cute nonetheless.

bakebakebake [ bluemotion ] | Dec. 25th, 2009 09:39 am From all the mods here at bakebakebake, have a wonderful, warm Christmas. It has largely become a 2½-month commercialized monstrosity, but at its core is something pure and true and steadfast. Ignore all the other crap, and cling to your family and/or loved ones, and make right the wrongs, and bake for them.

bakebakebake [ bunney ] | Dec. 24th, 2009 08:11 pm Persimmon Pudding Hi all and Happy Holidays!
This is my first post and I come bearing a true delicacy...persimmon pudding! This is actually my sister's recipe, but I have tweaked it, so I'm laying claim to it! I doubt that she'll mind much...she's going to be eating it tomorrow anyway :)
I only have one picture, but this is literally seconds after removing it from the oven. In my opinion, it looks scrumptious! It will sink and darken a bit as it cools, too. This is more of a very, very moist cake consistency rather than the gelatinous consistency most puddings have. It's still a true persimmon pudding, though.

bakebakebake [ missusgeek ] | Dec. 24th, 2009 06:28 pm judo fondant cake This was an order for a judo-themed fondant cake from a lovely young lady to her boyfriend. She provided the design, along with a drawing of the 'pose' of the two figurines. Dumb bimbo moment: I literally had to kneel down and replicate the pose to figure out how the legs were bent :P

bakebakebake [ restingstate ] | Dec. 24th, 2009 01:05 pm Swedish cookies? Okay, so my dad is full-blooded Swedish and I want to make him some traditional cookies. He can't remember the name of his childhood favorite, but he told me they were: 1. very buttery cookies 2. looked like three fingers 3. covered in powdered sugar 4. were not Fattigmann
I guess his grandmother made them all the time, but he hasn't had them since he was a child. I've googled and looked in the bakebakebake memories, but can't find anything! Please help me out! I'd love to make them for Christmas if I get a recipe today :) 7 comments - Leave a comment

bakebakebake [ _buenavista ] | Dec. 23rd, 2009 12:47 am Unbelievably Easy Roast Beef
I present to you all a Christmas roast. It's the perfect holiday meal. This roast beef is rich and flavorful, while still very buttery and tender without actually using any butter! Believe it, friends, for I speak the truth. This roast beef is perfection. I had never made a roast beef before, so I was extremely happy with this meal. The outside was crusty, lightly spicy, and expertly seasoned. You don't need a lot of fancy ingredients for this roast beef; you probably already have all of the ingredients in your pantry. I served this with mashed potatoes and Kramer and I were in heaven. The best part about this roast beef are the sandwiches you can make with it the next day. There's nothing better! If you're making Christmas dinner on Friday and still unsure as to what to make, this is the recipe, I promise! Recipe after the cut or on my blog at The Crepes of Wrath.
Happy Holidays!

bakebakebake [ yaoiandpocky ] | Dec. 22nd, 2009 03:51 pm So this year my brother asked for some of my homemade spice rubs for Christmas. I just made them up and wrapped them, and I thought that maybe I could share the recipes here as ideas for nice little stocking stuffers for others to give to your loved ones as well.
Sorry, no pics of the finished product. But I can assure you that they're all very yummy!

bakebakebake [ carabeara ] | Dec. 22nd, 2009 06:01 pm What to do with oatmeal raisin cookies??? So, I baked some oatmeal raisin cookies the other day, and stored them in a ziplock bag (never doing that again!). Someone tried to clean up the dining room and moved the bag around too much and now they are mostly crumbs :( Anyone have any neat ideas of what to do with the oatmeal raisin cookie crumbs? I, of course, will probably still munch on the bits and pieces, but I think it'd be nice to turn the crumbs into something new.
Thanks!! 10 comments - Leave a comment
